Started to run again!

Started to run again! A habit I've never had. At least since I was a teenager. The first time was 5 years ago, around Green Lake, in Seattle. Haven't done much for the past 2 years! Now, getting back into it, around Lady Bird Lake, Austin. No, not the whole 4 miles, which would be the stretch in front of the ap. complex. I mean, I can walk forever. But running... that's different. Has to be early, before the temp reaches the 3 digits. I'm really enjoying my contact with nature every morning, here in Austin. After spending 3 1/2 months in Rio de Janeiro, and spending time at some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, it's great to be close to nature.
It's a new life for me, here in Austin. Of course I had to move here during their hottest summer on record, just like I moved to CT this past January during their coldest winter on record. Did I mention that I like intense emotions? :) Getting into the groove again, writing. It feels great when I write something that I think it can be a great song. Cause there is no guarantees, and it's about doing it all the time. So, you writers out there: find even 1/2 hour a day and go write. You'll feel better!

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to post a comment, if you have one!
See you next time,
paz!

Rain

After living in Seattle for 17 years, I never thought I'd see the day I'd be praying for rain. Now, having moved to Austin in the middle of record temperatures summer and a mean drought, I was sure happy to see some sprinkles today! In music, starting to get into the groove of writing again. It's like a muscle that needs to exercise everyday. And, when we least expect it, the most beautiful gem is born. To be creative requires having patience to sit and create. A bunch of crap in the process :) It's good to write, both words and music, without the editor talking in my ear, like the angel and the devil fighting for my attention. After this time off in Brazil, my editor cooled down. Thank God!! Editing during the creative time can destroy the gem before it is born.

Music is heaven

Today I took a pleasant walk by Lady Bird Lake, here in Austin. It's great to be really close to the Colorado river. First thing in the morning, go stretch my legs and listen to the birds. Also today I read about hunger in Somalia, trouble in Lybia, and the Kayapo indians are in danger, because of Bel Monte's dam. Chief Raoni says they will fight to death. In the midst of all this, I feel small and humble myself. Why should I have the privilege of doing of what I love the most? If I didn't know any better, I'd feel guilty. However, when I bring tears of joy, or even sadness, to somebody's heart, with a song, that hits home! And every time somebody tells me 'your music touches my soul', I think to myself: it's worth it; and even though it's complete pleasure and heaven for me, it's not completely selfish :)

Good Routine

Getting a routine going again. A new routine in Austin. Must take in consideration the extreme heat. Can't walk around 5 or 6pm! Wake up, meditate, do some yoga, and work on music. I always think I'll never be able to write another song again. But, of course, that happens to every writer. I read Agatha Christie's autobiography, and she too thought the same thing! But, all I have to do is to show up, so to speak. Sit down, keep the pen moving, and or the fingers on the keyboard or guitar. Some days we write real gems! Other times, it's just stuff that needs to come out.

Living in Austin, TX

Well, now I'm officially an Austin resident! After living in Seattle for 17years, it is a big change! One, of them: lack of water! But, I love the music in Austin. And the vibe. Soon I'll be playing shows with friends. Putting a new band together, after my Seattle band, together for over 10 years! My last 4 CDs were recorded with them.Check them out here:
